Luka

Susan was a first-year university student. Her major was English. She just moved into a new room. Her room was on the first floor of an old apartment. She thought the building look creepy, but it's not expensive.

One evening, she saw a small note tucked into the door of her room. She opened the letter. It said:
Text Box: Hello,

My name is Luka. I live on the second floor (Room 326). I’m sure you usually hear trouble sounds. Yes, I have been beaten by my step-father before I go to the bed. Please, help me now!

Susan was shocked to hear about Luka. She would like to help her. She wrote a letter to her. It said:

Text Box: Dear Luka:

I’m Susan from the first floor, the person to whom you sent the letter. I have read your letter. I’ll help you. I’ll call the police and tell them about all your stories.

Susan

Susan went to the police and reported Luka’s problem to them. The next day the police came into the building. Luka’s step father was arrested and sent to jail. Luka and her mother moved to another city.

Two months later, Susan received a letter from Luka.

Text Box: Dear Susan:

Thank you so much for helping me. Now, I’m free like a bird and have a life better. Many things are getting better. I’m very happy living with my mother. Had I not written to you on that day, my life would still have been in the dark. I owe you my life.
Luka

Two years later, Luka graduated from a high school. Susan was glad to see Luka in her university. Luka became a freshman at Susan’s university. They became good friends.
