Writing Behavioral Objectives: The ABCD Model
Master the 4 core components: Audience, Behavior, Condition, and Degree.
The ABCD Anatomy
An instructional objective must be observable and measurable. Use the four building blocks below:
Who is doing the learning? (e.g., the students, 4th-grade learners)
Observable action verb (e.g., match, spell, recall, pronounce)[cite: 1]
Circumstances/timeframe (e.g., by the end of the session, given a map)[cite: 1]
Measurable criterion/standard (e.g., 80% correctly, with zero errors)[cite: 1]
