• P – Practicality: Is it realistic in terms of time, administration, cost, and grading workload?
• R – Reliability: Is it consistent and trustworthy across repeated administrations?
• V – Validity: Does the assessment truly measure the specific target skill? (e.g., using spoken interviews rather than written essays to evaluate pronunciation).
• W – Washback: The influence and backwash effects of testing formats on day-to-day teaching and learning behavior.
