คำอธิบายเรื่องไวยากรณ์

ในภาษาอังกฤษ การใช้ "There is" และ "There are" ใช้เพื่อแสดงถึงการมีอยู่ของสิ่งของหรือบุคคลในสถานที่ใดสถานที่หนึ่ง

There is / There are แปลว่า มี เช่น There is a car near the tree. มีรถอยู่ใกล้ต้นไม้

There are plenty of fish in the water. ในน้ำมีปลาอยู่มากมาย

- There is ใช้กับสิ่งที่นับได้ในรูปเอกพจน์

- There are ใช้กับสิ่งที่นับได้ในรูปพหูพจน์

- here is a car near the river. (มีรถคันหนึ่งอยู่ใกล้แม่น้ำ)

- There are three dogs in the garden. (มีสุนัขสามตัวในสวน)

- "There is" ใช้เมื่อต้องการบอกว่ามีบางสิ่งบางอย่างที่เป็นเอกพจน์หรือไม่สามารถนับได้

เช่น There is love here. มีรักอยู่ที่นี่

- There are" ใช้เมื่อต้องการบอกว่ามีหลายสิ่งหลายอย่างที่สามารถนับได้
