“How To Lose Weight and Stay Healthy”

“How To Lose Weight and Stay Healthy”

Do you want to live a healthy life? Everybody wants to stay healthy. However, if you are overweight or obese, you need to do something about it. In this article, I discuss three ways everybody can do to lose weight and stay healthy.

1. Eat Healthy Food

Firstly, the simplest way is to eat healthy food. Nothing is truer than this saying: you are what you eat. You should eat a lot of vegetables, especially those organic ones. More importantly, you should avoid eating too much fatty or oily food. Eating fatty food can easily make you overweight. According to Nina (2019), fat contains more calories than protein and carbohydrates. So, you should avoid eating it. The first way is simple, but it is not easy to do.

2. Exercise

Secondly, you should exercise regularly. It has several benefits. It is good for your body and mind (Gavin, 2019). You can do it in many places such as parks and in the gym. You should not over-exercise. You should do it every day.

“My OTG Learning”

“My OTG Learning”
Hello everybody, I'm Janpha Thadphoothon, an English teacher at DPU, a private university located on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand.

I enjoy reading books, traditional and digital. Oftentimes, I learn on the go - I learn something while doing something else. When I go jogging, I listen to news. I read books while waiting to board a plane at the airport.

1. Traditional OTG Learning

This is a photograph of myself reading newspaper on a train. The photo was taken in 2018 in Malaysia. I consider this a traditional form of learning on the go. I was reading while travelling on the train.

2. Digital OTG Learning

Photo No. 3

I took this picture last month. I was walking in a park and listening to a lecture in English . The lecture was delivered via Youtube. I listened to it via my smartphone.  I did two things at the same time. I gained two things - good health and knowledge. I call this digital learning on the go.

Otaru Snow

Beautiful mountains
Rivers with cold, cold water.

White cold snow on rocks

Trees over the place with frost
White sparkly snow everywhere.

CCPR Instructional Model

CCPR Instructional Model

The model has been proposed by Professor Paitoon Sinlarat about a decade ago. The main aim is to offer a framework, intellectual as well as 'pratice', for us, not limited to Thailand, to move a soiety our of the state of being a consumer to a producer one.

CCPR is an acronym invented by Paitoon Sinlarat (2005).

Let me explain the acronym.

In term of principles, education should focus on the four domains.

C = Cretivity
C = Critical Thinking
P = Product Making
R = Responsibilities

Notes from Vietnam

Notes from Vietnam

1. Let's speak Vietnamese!

 I visited Vietnam a few times. Every visit was a joy and an addition to my language and cultural learning experience. Vietnamese are friendly people. They are very helpful. I enjoy talking to them.

In terms of communication, it was not a problem for me. Though most, like Thais, do not speak fluent English, they know some. I know a few words of Vietnamese, which is enough for me to get by.

Have you been to Vietnam? If you have a plan, it pays to know their language. This can help you enrich your visit and make more friends. Following are some words / expressions I found useful:

1. I want to do something e.g. drink tea.

Tôi muốn uống trà.
Tôi = I
muốn = want
Tôi muốn  = I want to
uống = drink,   trà = tea.
uống trà = to drink tea

I want to have (eat) breakfast.
Tôi muốn ăn sáng.
Tôi muốn = I want to
ăn sáng = breakfast

2.  Rất ngon and Cảm ơn

Rất ngon = very delicious
Cảm ơn = Thank you

3. Tôi muốn đi hà nội. = I want to go to Ha Noi.

Tôi muốn = I want to
 đi = go to
hà nội = Ha Noi

4. Tôi thích Món ăn Việt Nam. I like Vietnamese food.
tôi thích = I like
Món ăn Việt Nam = Vietnamese food

5. Tôi tên là John. = My name is John.

Tôi tên là = My name is ....
John.
